Testing the Sigma 150-600 with the Canon EOS R5. Tronhard. Elite. Options. 08-14-2022 04:09 PM - edited ‎07-02-2023 08:36 PM. I had been observing a lot of chatter about the performance of 3rd party lenses with the new RF mount. In particular the comments that the very popular Sigma 150-600c has focusing issues on the RF mount.
The SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 is available in Canon EF Nikon F mounts, and the SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di USD G2, without VC, is available for Sony A mount. An optional lens case with zipper closure is also being released and will work with both the SP 150-600mm G2 and original SP 150-600mm. The 1.4x 2x Teleconverters will be available in
The EF 70-300L is NOT compatible with Canon's teleconverters - they will physically not fit on this lens. If you want to get an extended reach, then the RF100-500L is a brilliant choice for the R5 (at a cost), but if you want to stick with EF lenses, then I can recommend the 100-400MkII or the Sigma 150-600c lenses.
The 150-600mm focal length is rare in the world of photographic lenses, with only three options on the market. Sigma offers two of the three with the Sigma 150-600mm F/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary and the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sport, giving customers a choice between lightweight portability or premium optical performance and weather sealing.
The aperture of the 100-300mm f2.8 with a 2x tele is not THAT much bigger than the aperture of say a sigma 150-600mm at 600 f6.3 (still, the Canon here is a good 27% bigger) but it's also capable of going to 100mm, not just 150mm, which can really help and at nearly 2 stops faster on the "wide" end.
Sigma 150-600 with the Canon 2x iii extender? Nov 12, 2020. Can anyone confirm if the Sigma 15-600 contemporary will attach and function with the Canon 2x iii attached? Thanks a million.
The new 2X TC III works very well for me on the 500. Attached is a sample image from the 7D MK II using the Canon 500L f/4 II + Canon 2X TC III. Shot wide open @ f/8, uncropped. I have tons more from a trip to Arizona last week. The only restriction with the 2X TC III is the lack of autofocus on lenses slower than f/4.
The Sigma 150-600 Sport focuses quite fast on a Nikon D300 and blazing fast on a Nikon D500. The bare Nikon 300mm f2.8 may be a touch faster, hard to differentiate a difference and the same is true with the 1.4x TC. The Sigma 150-600 Contemporary for Canon with Fringer EF to Fuji X is blazing fast on my Fuji X-T3.

The Canon extenders have a nose that needs to be dealt with. Since you've got the camera and lens give it a try - carefully.

The Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD is one of a select group of supertelephoto zooms for full frame SLRs that reaches or exceeds 400mm focal length, while still being reasonably portable. This type of lens is the tool of choice for small or distant subjects when large heavy primes are impractical, ranging from birds and wildlife, through sports, to aircraft and the like. The Tamron's
